Here is a fast way to lose members

The Media, Entertainment, and Arts Alliance is Australia's peak body for anybody who works in the media. It represents our nation's journalists, communications professionals, and artists.
And I've been a member for years.
Until yesterday.
The Association has had several problems with conflicting positions, which aren't new.
One of those has been the notion of journalistic independence, yet it rolls out free training from Google.
You and I both know what free means, in this case, right?
Free to report what Google wants you to report.
Handy, in the six months ahead of a government's big tech challenge.

Yesterday, though, the MEAA sent out a missive to Vaxxx the Nation.
Now, I don't care what your position is.
Mine is that any journalism association that takes sides on a medical apartheid issue, one which is at odds with our own values and culture, then journalists will never be supported to be independent. Especially when major protests are being memory-holed and governments are being challenged in the land's highest courts.
All under-reported (or unreported, in some cases).
The MEAA could have reported that the music industry has banded together in this or that way.
It could have done almost anything else!
Like, reported on both sides of the issue from a journalist's perspective, and explained how it is supporting both sides.
Or how journalists can navigate the difficult social issues without getting into hot water.
But no, that would take courage.
That would take a deeper adherence to its own code of ethics.
In these times, people are following their hearts.
This means that if your content doesn't come from your own heart, or support what YOU consider to be courageous, you're at risk of losing more than just fans.
You're at risk of losing your own integrity.
And, as in the case of the MEAA, your financial bottom line.
